Forage Farms, Stuart and Megan Andrews

The Andrews family have dedicated 40 years to regenerative agriculture with Peter Andrews being the visionary for Natural Sequence Farming – a system of farming focusing on implementing natural landscape function back into degraded landscapes. Realising that foragers provide a helping hand in implementing natural landscape functions and that healthy landscapes grow healthy animals and healthy nutrient dense food, Forage Farms was born and is now home to free range, pastured chickens and pigs. The chooks and piggies produce beautiful fresh produce that is 100% artificial fertiliser and chemical free, ensuring the best for you and the environment.  Join Stuart and Megan on their journey to redefine agriculture for a better foraging experience and to find out more about their products, how they are grown and the difference it makes to taste.

Boneafide Broth Co: Sharlene Kelly

Sharlene is a local girl who completed her education at Noosa District High and started competing in local surf championships from an early age which took her to the professional level in surf paddle. As well as raising a young family she worked at a local gym where she noticed the benefits of correct supplements to athletes. With a successful background in sport this led to opening up a sports nutrition shop in Noosa.  However there was another venture awaiting, this time in the food industry,  manufacturing organic bone broth. Her business is about offering customers a 100% organic broth with no crap added.  Sharlene will share her science-based and anecdotal evidence of the benefits of bone broth and their commitment to producing quality foods, sourced from ethically grown producers that pack a nutritional punch and heal from the inside out.

Big Heart Bamboo – Becky Miwako

Big Heart Bamboo was founded in 2014 by city girl turned farmer, Becky Miwako. Bamboo was not something new to Becky’s life as her father, Durnford Dart, established what is now Australia’s largest bamboo plantation in 1989. However, it was a zen-like camping trip in a local bamboo grove led Becky to discover Bamboo Shoots –  a culinary delicacy in most Asian countries. As a science student at the University of Queensland, Becky’s natural curiosity for nutrition and sustainability of this awkward little vegetable began to surface and soon went into overdrive. Becky now lives on the property and has taken out a lease on 20 acres of bamboo plantation. She supplies a number of retailers and restaurants, including Wasabi, with fresh and pickled gourmet bamboo shoots. Join us to find out more about Becky’s journey of discovery, the correct way to prepare bamboo shoots and recipe ideas.
